Here are just a few questions that are often asked by our guests.
Do you provide a nursery?
Yes. We provide a clean and well-staffed nursery during every service for newborn to age 3. We also have a private area in the nursery for mothers who are nursing their infants.
How should I dress?
There is no dress code for members or guests. Our pastor and others dress in more traditional “Sunday” dress; however, our main goal is that you would feel welcome and comfortable with your visit with us.
Am I expected to participate in the offering?
No. We did not invite you to Grand River Baptist Church for your offering. We want our service to be a gift to you. We hope you will find in this place a warm family spirit, truth from God’s Word, and a place where you can grow in God’s grace. Please don’t feel any obligation to participate in the offering as a guest.
What kind of music should I expect to find?
We love to sing music that honors and glorifies God. Many would define our worship as “traditional.” We seek to please God in our spirit and in our singing.
What’s in the name “Baptist?”
This church is a Baptist church by conviction and principle, not by affiliation. This means that we believe the basic Bible teachings for which Baptists have historically stood. As Baptists, we believe the following: the Bible is our sole authority for all matters of faith and practice. The church should be autonomous or self-governing. The believer does not need a priest, other than Jesus Christ, to come boldly to God. Every Christian has equal access to God personally. God’s Word gives us two ordinances for the church: baptism and the Lord’s Table. Each person is individually responsible for his decision to accept Christ. The separation of church and state is biblical. The believer is eternally secure and cannot lose his salvation. There are two biblical offices in the church—pastors and deacons.
If you still have questions, please give us a call or simply ask someone when you arrive. Whether you’re new to the area and looking for a church home or maybe it’s been a long time since you’ve attended church at all, we hope your first visit at Grand River Baptist will be comfortable! We are here to serve you and your family, and we are looking forward to meeting you personally. We hope you’ll feel right at home from the very first moment you step in our doors!
